Fish with CHIRP echo sounder functions too. The user-friendly echoMAP CHIRP 72sv with 7-inch display is easy to mount. Available with or without a transducer, it offers high-bandwidth CHIRP echo sounder capabilities, as well as Garmin CHIRP SideVü and Garmin CHIRP ClearVü for incredibly clear sonar images on the water. The unit supports Panoptix echosounder functions and comes preloaded with Quickdraw Contours software so you can instantly create your own HD fishing charts with depth contours at 30 cm intervals while fishing. Built-in 5 Hz GPS updates position and heading 5 times per second. NMEA 2000® for engine data, sensors, the FUSION-Link™ audio system, autopilots and more. Cables connect directly to the mount. Quickdraw Contours is a free and easy-to-use software feature that is already installed on the Garmin device. It instantly creates custom HD fishing charts with depth contours of 1 foot (30 cm). Customize them any way you like. They're your charts. You own them. Use them yourself, or share them with the Quickdraw community at Garmin Connect™. No special surveying skills are required. Just fish while the maps are being created. Unlike other mapping software, you don't have to wait long or submit your files first - the results are instant! The feature is compatible with Garmin Panoptix™ transducers, HD-ID™ echo sounders, CHIRP-enabled Garmin ClearVü™ transducers, or NMEA 2000® compatible transducers with depth sensing capability. Have multiple depth sounders installed on board? Quickdraw Contours automatically selects the echosounder that gives you the best results.
Your advantages thanks to Garmin CHIRP
Multiple echosounder features are built into the echoMAP 72sv, including a CHIRP echosounder with the most advanced echosounder technology available for sportfishing and boating today. The CHIRP echosounder provides excellent echo separation and precisely defined structures by delivering higher transmit power than conventional echo sounders. However, the unit can also serve with echosounder recording functions. This matches echo sounder signal data to the vessel's position and stores digital information for display on a computer running HomePort™ route planning software. Share waypoints and routes with multiple devices using the user data sharing cable.
Incredibly clear echosounder images on the water
Garmin CHIRP ClearVü and CHIRP SideVü echosounders provide an almost photographic view of conditions below and beside the boat. Structures, underwater objects and fish are clearly visible. Also supported are Minn Kota® electric boat motors and MotorGuide® with integrated encoders.
Get even more information with excellent Garmin marine charts
Buy accessory charts without thinking twice. A microSD™ card slot expands storage for maps like BlueChart® g2 or BlueChart® g2 Vision®. BlueChart g2 Vision also includes exclusive Garmin Auto Guidance technology to guide you to your destinations. Incorporating vessel data, Auto Guidance instantly creates a visual route for you to follow to avoid shallow water and other chart-marked obstacles.
Create your own HD fishing charts

Updates position and heading 5 times per second
The fast, responsive 5 Hz GPS receiver updates position and heading 5 times per second so your movements are more consistently shown on the display. Now store up to 5,000 waypoints, and find your way back to your secret fishing spots - quickly and easily.
Get a Panoptix LiveVü Forward echo sounder
LiveVü Forward always works - whether you're cruising or not. Depending on which direction the electric boat motor is pointing, you'll see live images of the current conditions underwater. See your lures sink to the bottom and track their depth and movements as you retrieve them. You can also see their movement in relation to the structures in the water. Watch fish as they swim by and react to your lures. Then when they attack, see and feel this! Once you have hooked the fish, you can follow the action live. With Panoptix LiveVü Forward, the underwater world comes to life up to 100 feet (30 meters) away.
The echoMAP - your faithful companion
When you're not on the water, the echoMAP is easy to store safely. You don't need to plug or unplug any cables into the device, as they connect directly to the cradle. Simply insert or remove the echoMAP from the cradle and you're done. It's just as easy with the power supply.
Advanced Auto Guidance
Just enter your destination, and Garmin's patented Auto Guidance technology instantly searches appropriate maps and creates a safe, virtual route on the display so you can avoid low bridges, shallow water, and other obstacles marked on maps while on the road.
The optimized version 2.0 offers even more features. For example, customize the calculated Auto Guidance route by adding waypoints for stops or points of interest along the desired route. Danger points on the calculated route can be easily checked. You can also activate your compatible Garmin autopilot to automatically follow the Auto Guidance route. Also new in version 2.0 is the ability to calculate arrival times for any points on the route. (A very handy feature if you want to time your arrival to coincide with a bridge opening, for example, or other special times). But that's not all. Now save your calculated Auto Guidance routes for future use by backing them up on an SD™ memory card with your BlueChart g2 Vision maps¹.
GPX waypoint transfer
Have you saved waypoints, tracks, or frequently used routes on a third-party GPS product or another Garmin handheld? Now transfer them to your new Garmin chartplotter easier than ever with the industry-standard GPX software format. GPX is an open standard format for GPS data exchange between platforms and applications. With this easy-to-use technology, Garmin makes it simple to use your old waypoints on your new device.
