NASA Marine Electromagnetic Log Transmitter EML-2
The electromagnetic log transducer EML-2 without paddle wheel from NASA is a reliable speed measurement system for motor and sail boats. Thereby the transducer for boats gets along without paddle wheel, so that no blocking by shells or flotsam is possible. It is used to generate an alternating magnetic field under the boat, which generates an electric field when the boat is moving over ground.
Encoder with practical features
The backlight of the log transmitter is easy on the eyes in dark light conditions. With the practical protective cap made of PVC, you protect it from dirt and scratches when not in use. The encoder can be mounted in the cockpit or on the outside driving position - according to your individual needs. A user-friendly interface is included in the scope of delivery, which allows you todisplays conditions such as boat speed, route and total distance. In addition, the display unit gives you a large and clearSOG view.
Features:
- Display of speed, daily and total miles Large digital display with large digitsBacklight dimmable in 20 levelsSuitable for cockpit mounting or outdoor driving positionMeasuring range speed: 0.2 - 40 knots
- NMEA 0183 data sets: VLW + VHW
- Updaterate: 0.5 Hz
- Total mileage counter up to 9999 NM
- Current consumption approx. 80 mA at 12 V
- Installation diameter encoder flange: 51 mm
- Connection cable encoder: length 5 m
Note: NASA's EML-2 log transducer is only suitable for mounting in the outer skin of GRP hulls, steel or aluminum hulls would affect the electromagnetic field of the transducer. Since the transducer is made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic, it must never be mounted in wooden hulls, as swelling of the material could cause damage.
